Intro to Coconut Oil Part II - Coconut Cures Continued

Coconut cures continued:

Cataracts - Take the fresh juice from a coconut and with an eyedropper apply several drops into each eye. Soak a washcloth in hot water, wring out, lie down and apply the warm cloth over the eyes for 10 minutes. Be sure and take the daily maintenance doze of 3 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil . 1000mg of vitamin C is recommended also.

Chronic Fatigue syndrome (CFS) - Coconut oil can be beneficial because it can kill many of the organisms that may be present. Plus it increases energy and stimulates metabolism, which improve immune function. Incorporate coconut meat and milk into the diet. Cultured coconut or another source of friendly bacteria would be very helpful. (Cultured coconut milk is similar to yogurt - just add a little granulated sugar to the milk and it will ferment.)

Colon Health - Coconut meat and oil repair, rejuvenate, clean, and vitalize the digestive system. From your mouth to your rectum, coconut oil cleans, and polishes, strengthens and feeds tissues. It helps to improve the tone of intestinal muscles and balances pH and the meat is an excellent source of dietary fiber. To reestablish a healthy intestinal environment and heal damaged and inflamed tissues in the digestive tract, the Coconut Oil Detox program by Dr Bruce Fife is one of the best approaches.

Dandruff - Apply coconut oil to the scalp and massage into the skin. You don't need to drench the hair, use just enough oil to cover the skin (coconut oil goes a long way). Let the oil soak in for at least 30 minutes, overnight is even better. Wash the oil out of the hair and dry. Repeat every day or two.

Dehydration - Coconut water makes an excellent beverage to rehydrate the body as it contains sugars and electrolytes that quickly replenish needed nutrients. Water from young or immature coconuts is superior in taste and quality but mature coconuts will work too. Limit consumption to about 8 ounces at any one time. Drinking more could loosen the bowels. And of course drink lots of water as well.

Diabetes - Eat a high fiber diet that includes coconut meat and use coconut oil for all cooking purposes. Consume daily a maintenance doze of coconut oil. Folks with diabetes should already be aware that they should eliminate sweets, refined carbos, and processed vegetable oils from their diets and to see a healthcare professional to monitor progress.

Digestive Disorders - Use primarily coconut oil in cooking and food preparation as processed vegetable oils are very hard to digest. Drink lots of water between meals. If you have a difficult time digesting protein, eat fresh tropical fruits such as pineapple, kiwi, pawpaw, or papaya with your meals as they contain protein digesting enzymes that aid in breaking down meat. One of the major causes of indigestion and heartburn is constipation. Eat high fiber foods such as coconut meat and flour. Coconut oil, coconut water, raisins, and prunes all help loosen the bowels.
Ear Wax - Excessive earwax can impair hearing and create a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria. Lie down on your side or back. Using an eyedropper filled with warm coconut oil, put several drops into the ear canal. Move your jaw around to work the oil down into the canal. This will loosen the wax and allow it to move out or be easily pulled out with use of ear candles. See Lee's Ear Candles link above.

Fever Blister - Also called cold sore, is caused by the herpes simplex virus and usually appears on the face and around the mouth. Take a lysine tablet and grind it into a powder. Add coconut oil and apply to the infected area as soon as you feel the blister start to form. Cover with micropore tape and keep it on overnight. Take a maintenance doze of coconut oil and 500 mg of lysine 3 times daily for two weeks. Do not take lysine for more than three weeks as it could create an imbalance in other amino acids.

As you can tell by now the list is pretty endless, so if there is any particular problem areas you wish me to cover please leave a comment/request and I will jump to it. Otherwise I will continue to go through by alphabet listing.

Thank you for your posts on the benefits of Coconut. I have a daughter who is allergic to coconut, so I usually avoid it, which is actually quite hard to do because it is in so many natural products (like soaps and shampoos). Now I know why! Who knew it was such a beneficial food! I'm going to try some of these remedies for myself.

Cool blog. I use coconut oil in a few of my products and I can tell you that coconut oil is also VERY good at treating a skin condition called Keratosis Pilaris, or those little red bumps on the backs of your arms that some adults have. It works just as well, over time, as chemical solutions!

PS--I use it as a foot cream and it works better than expensive alternatives. I also use coconut oil in my hair often, more specifically Monoi de Tahiti oil!

I've used coconut oil before and used it for quite some time, but I did not really see that it helped me in any certain areas. :( I had heard all of the benefits that you had stated in your posts, but I honestly did not have those results. I wished I would have! Believe me..
