Intro to Coconut Oil Part II - Coconut Cures

Through the month of October I will be sharing the benefits of consuming a daily doze of coconut, cooking with coconut oil, coconut water, and coconut milk.

The vast majority of the fats in our diet, whether they are saturated or unsaturated or come from plants or animals are composed of what is called long-chain fatty acids. Soybean oil, corn oil, canola oil, olive oil, lard, and chicken fat are composed entirely of LCFAs.

Coconut oil is unique as it is composed predominately of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs). It is the MCFAs in coconut oil that make it different from other oils and which give it its remarkable nutritional and medical properties. MCFA are very different from LCFA. They do not have a negative effect on cholesterol and help to protect against heart disease plus numerous other problems. MCFAs help to lower the risk of both atherosclerosis and heart disease.

(For more details about LCFAs and MCFAs please see Dr Bruce Fife's book, "Coconut Cures", which is available from Amazon or my website, Lee's Candles. You can click on the link at the top of the page for 10% off Dr Bruce Fife's books).

I want to give you just a few of the conditions for which coconut has proven to be beneficial. This information is based on published medical literature as well as research and experiences by qualified professionals. It is intended for educational purposes and to share knowledge about the useful properties of coconut. It is not intended as medical advice, nor to replace your primary health care giver's advice.

Aches and pains: Massage warmed coconut oil into affected areas and work the oil into the skin and muscles to stimulate circulation. Drink 8 or more ounces of coconut water and eat 3 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil a day. I use coconut oil like butter on my toast for breakfast and like salad dressing on bread for sandwiches and even stir a spoonful into my coffee, tea or hot chocolate in order to get the full 3 1/2 tablespoons daily. You can also use coconut oil to bake with instead of lard, shortening or other oils.

Acne, age spots, dry and cracked skin, minor cuts, eczema, hemorrhoids, insect bites and stings, psoriasis, skin fungus, stretch marks, sunburn, and wrinkles can all be treated by applying coconut oil directly to the affected area 3-6 times a day.

Coconut oil is a natural sunscreen which heals and protects the skin all day so apply all over after your morning bath or before you go outside.

Consuming a maintenance doze of 3 1/2 tablespoons daily along with fresh fruits and raw vegetables, eliminating all processed oils, taking 1000 IU of vitamin D, preferably from sunshine, and taking 500 - 800 mg of magnesium will lower your blood pressure.

If you have cancer or want to prevent it avoid all vegetable oils, hydrogenated oils, and sugars. Use stevia as a sweetener. Take at least the maintenance doze of coconut oil, more will only help not hinder. Massage coconut oil into skin daily over the area where cancer is present. Eat fresh fruits and vegetable, mostly raw. Cut out all over processed foods and refined foods, especially packaged convenience foods and fast foods. Take thymus extract as per directions and an antioxidant supplement that supplies vitamins A, E, zinc, and selenium. Take 1000 mg of vitamin C and 100 mg of grape seed extract. A capsule of cayenne pepper with each meal will improve circulation and increase oxygen delivery to the cells. Personally, I take Oxygen Element Max by Global Health Trax (contact me directly for purchasing information) after each meal to increase oxygen to the cells.

Breastfeeding mothers can enrich the milk with health promoting MCFAs. Consume coconut products, especially coconut oil daily.

Coconut oil does not turn into fat when taken internally and it actually helps cleanse the liver. This is why you can take 3 1/2 tablespoons daily plus drink and cook with coconut milk and water, and coconut oil. The more you get into your body daily the healthier you will become.

When I discovered Dr Bruce Fife's Coconut Research Center and learned the benefits of coconut oil I immediately added coconut oil to my body and lip butters and my bug away formulas. Visit Grandma Betty's Body Butters.

Coconut oil is one of the most amazing natural oils available. It is so versatile and it offers so many health benefits.

I like to use it to deep condition my hair, and it makes an excellent natural skin moisturizer - just remember a little goes a long way.

Hello Grandma Betty,

You have made such a wonderful post about the Healthiest Oil in the World.

I just wish that people will be able to UN-brainwash themselves soon enough for their health's sake from decades of atrociously maligning coconut oil.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Cheers,
Frederick
